About project

MDM has designed and constructed a programme of Coastal Crisis Management Centres (CCMCs) across Bangladesh, commissioned by the US Army Corps of Engineers and funded by the US Government. These dual-purpose facilities serve as coastguard operational bases during normal conditions and convert into emergency response stations during natural disasters.

Every CCMC is engineered to the most demanding resilience standards: structures are designed to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8.0 on the Richter scale and wind speeds of 260 km/h, achieved through reinforced concrete frame construction and deep pile foundations. Each building is equipped with solar and generator backup power for use during outages and incorporates rainwater harvesting and filtration systems.

The ground floor of each centre can store boats and trailers for rapid disaster response deployment, while the upper floor provides offices and living quarters for coastguard personnel during normal operations. Across the Chittagong, Barisal, Khulna and Dhaka zones, MDM has successfully completed 19 CCMCs — a significant contribution to Bangladesh’s national coastal resilience infrastructure.
