MDM served as Design Consultant for the Desar Villas development — a community of 250 contemporary villas designed to meet the lifestyle expectations of Saudi Arabia’s residential market while responding sensitively to the social and cultural norms of the region. 
 
The design of each villa is organised around a clear zoning strategy that provides for open, semi-private and fully private areas within a single cohesive composition. A key driver of the scheme is the treatment of the landscape as an active design tool: rather than serving as a backdrop, planting and hardscape are used to create a buffer zone between the main family residence and the guest reception area — the traditional ‘Majlish‘ — allowing both to function independently and with appropriate degrees of privacy. 
 
The architectural language is clean and contemporary: rendered white volumes are articulated with timber screen elements and carefully placed openings that control views and natural light while maintaining privacy. Night-time illumination is integrated into the design of the facades and garden walls, giving the villas a distinctive and welcoming presence after dark. Across 250 units, MDM’s approach delivers a consistent design identity while accommodating the individual requirements of family living at different scales.
