Architectural Design & Structural Engineering
J.K. Tower is a mixed-use commercial and residential complex situated on 60-feet-wide K. C. Dey Road in Chittagong City, in a prime commercial area near New Market and Shahid Minar. The tower was designed to serve the requirements of both commercial retail and residential occupants, offering complete privacy between uses while incorporating modern amenities throughout.
Safety was a central priority of the structural design. The building employs an earthquake-resistant reinforced concrete frame coupled with reinforced concrete shear walls to ensure resilience against seismic loading. The semi-basement level accommodates a car park, café, security control room and pump room. Levels 1 through 4 form the shopping complex, with particular attention given to the comfort and flow of shoppers; drainage, waste disposal and fire-safety emergency exits were all designed to international standards.
The residential portion of the exterior features a plastered groove facade, while the shopping complex is finished with a rectangular glass facade articulated with aluminium panels and louvers — creating a clear visual distinction between the two programmes while maintaining a cohesive overall composition.
