British High Commission

HM Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO Services), UK, appointed MDM Architects for building advisory, project and construction management, design and supervisory services for a range of office extensions and renovations at the British High Commission (BHC), Dhaka. This successful and long-running relationship began in 1997. The scope of work encompassed architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical design.

Projects included: the construction of a new visa office in Sylhet; new high-security interview rooms and the construction of a modern entrance for visitors to the immigration department; BHC visa office renovation and fit-out; a gatehouse and an extension to the BHC club ; and a management annex complex.

Engineering design was performed to British standards and NFPA fire standards. High security specifications were provided by the Estate Department in London. The budget and schedule were met on all projects

The project was completed in June 2007.
