Multi Purpose Cyclone Shelter/School (MPCS) Buildings are used as school all over the year but will be used as rehabilitation centres during any the disastrous weather condition.
These buildings are usually in the form of ‘L’ shaped and ‘I’ shaped. There are class rooms and teacher rooms for school uses. Building includes first aid room and special care room for pregnant women. Usually wide staircases are placed centrally to avoid any hazard in the event of disaster. Approximately 10 feet wide corridors are used for people movement. MPCS buildings were designed to be powered by electricity (subject to availability) and has solar system backup for the event of power failure. Buildings are facilitated with rain water recycling systems.
