The Lakeshore Hotel, a luxurious boutique hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has recently opened its doors on an exclusive hospitality suite. Located in the heart of the diplomatic zone of Gulshan, with stunning views across the Banani lake and bridge, the hotel is popular with locals and tourists alike. The Client required the new extension to be operational from the start of the high season, giving Mukta Dinwiddie MacLaren only 8 weeks to complete the project.
The new extension forms a glass entrance lobby on the ground floor, with an elegant staircase leading to the anteroom on the first floor, overlooking the lake. The main function hall, which provides a generous 1,200 sqft of floor space, has a gently curved ceiling with non-sequenced LED lights to emulate the night sky over the lakeshore.
The extension was constructed with a steel structure and Allucabond cladding, with aluminium louvers over the angled glass façade. The overall design optimises energy efficiency, and includes double-skinned walls, insulated ceilings, and innovative climate control technology of VRF & VRV air-conditioning systems.
